THE TANDEM PROJECT 2015 LAUNCH November 2015

The TANDEM Project launched for the second time last week at the GAFFA Gallery in Sydney. Featuring seven designers from Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra, the exhibition showcased a mixture of individual and collaborative projects ranging from furniture, lighting, industrial and product design.

Initiated by ChristelH and He Made She Made, The TANDEM Project explores the way we as individuals make and create in collaboration with others. A big emphasis of the project involved documenting the progress of each practice through studio visits, casual interviews and visual recording, finalised with an exhibition to encapsulate the 8-month collaborative journey.

A Q&A Luncheon event followed over the weekend, where designers were interviewed by DQ editor Sophia Watson to chat about their collaborative experience.

Seven Design Collaborations:

1. Ben Wahrlich + Tim Wahrlich designed The Wild Series - Deer coat rack, Monkey coffee table, Giraffe floor lamp.

2. Hugh Altschwager + Adam Lynch designed a range of durable travel bags under the brand "GARAGE."

3. Laura Lay + Winston Mitchell designed the Hoop chair to relax in.

4. March Studio: Rigmarole + Melinda Piesse designed the woven Never-Never lounge.

5. Evie GroupJonathan Blake designed the Oscar side tables in solid brass and Australian ironwood.
