THE TANDEM PROJECT 2015 PRODUCT DESIGNS November 2015

Exciting furniture, lighting and product designs were created by seven design collaborations as part of The TANDEM Project, showcased at the GAFFA Gallery in Sydney.

TANDEM is an initiative of design house ChristelH and He Made She Made, supported by Design Nation.

Seven Design Collaborations:

1. Sydney-based designer Ben Wahrlich + furniture-maker Tim Wahrlich brought a sense of playfulness and novelty to furniture by designing The Wild Series - Deer coat rack, Monkey coffee table, Giraffe floor lamp - a 3-part series of conceptual steel furniture pieces taking subtle cues from wild animals.

2. Melbourne-based designers Hugh Altschwager + Adam Lynch designed a range of durable travel bags under the brand "GARAGE," inspired by outdoor pursuits in the Australian environment.

3. Sydney artist/designer Laura Lay + Melbourne-based Winston Mitchell designed the stunning Hoop chair to relax in.

4. Melbourne-based multidisciplinary design studio March Studio: Rigmarole + textile artist Melinda Piesse designed the woven Never-Never lounge to recline it.

5. Sydney-based multidisciplinary design studio Evie Group + designer Jonathan Blake explored weight and tactile responses found in furniture, designing the Oscar side tables in solid brass and Australian ironwood.

6. Canberra-based designers Daniel Lorrimer + Elliot Bastianon designed the Twig shelf, a height-adjustable storage solution for small living spaces.

7. Canberra-based jewellery designer Alison Jackson + ceramicist Kelly Austin designed an elegant ceramic and metal tableware collection.
